One of our most popular tasting events: six amazing wines, both white and red, plus a very generous cheese board. We'll show you how to taste them together and understand how the characteristics of each are changed and enhanced when you pair them. Plus, there's loads of opportunity to ask questions and learn more about wine.

Your host for this event will be John Callow – a highly qualified and experienced wine expert who loves sharing his knowledge and passion for wine. And cheese!

Brilliant event. We went for the British cheese and wine tasting. John was a fantastic host. The layout of the food and wines when we arrived felt really premium. Went to a wine and cheese tasting in Manchester on Friday night – loved it! Really good evening: John really knows his stuff. All that knowledge makes the wine taste even better. It's not a lecture, John chats through the wine you're about to try and then leaves you to discover and chat about each one. Lovely people on our table too – made for a great night out. Definitely do this!

Highly enjoyable evening
I was given a Cheese and Wine tasting experience for my Mothers' Day present and went with a friend on the 27th July. It was a fabulous evening as we learnt some basics of wine tasting, including about different grapes, climates and terroir and production methods. Then we tasted 6 wines matched with 6 different (and delicious) cheeses. John from Northern Wine School is extremely knowledgeable and friendly and created a relaxed and fun atmosphere. He was happy to go into more detail for those who were interested and to answer any questions. We met some lovely people and there was nothing pretentious about the evening. It was all about enjoyment. And I learnt lots! German Riesling and Garstang Blue cheese? Who would have thought that would work but it does! Sadly I can only eat Comté with Champagne now!! One tip: don't have a big meal beforehand; there's loads of cheese, bread and crackers to feast on! Wonderful experience, highly recommended. Thanks, John. And thanks to my daughter, Kate, for a great present!

Pairing six very good wines from around the world with a selection of carefully chosen artisanal cheeses in order to enhance the enjoyment of both. That's what this evening is all about. You will be seated at an immaculately presented and organised table with your tasting glasses, your cheese board as well as nibbles along with a pen and paper.

There's plenty of time to chat to the people you're with and the other people at the event as well as being able to ask your host anything you like about the wines and cheeses. You will be taken through each one, learning a little about them and also learning what pairings work best for you. You'll also be given a booklet with details of the wines you have tasted in case you want to find them for yourselves – we don't sell the wine.
